Abstract

We report on the characterisation of a new Josephson device, based on a YBa 2Cu 3O 7 (YBCO) step edge junction and a control line. The control current is injected into the region close to the GB region through two Au/YBCO contacts. Feeding the device with a suitable control current, linear branches are observed in the current-voltage characteristic of the step edge junction, in the range 0.5–2.5 mV. No similar effects appear when an external magnetic field is applied. The stability of the linear branches and their wide-range voltage tunability are such that applications can potentially be developed in the field off submillimiter-wave generation and detection.
