Abstract

The 19F spin–lattice relaxation time T1 in CF4 gas has been obtained from measurements of linewidths of NMR absorption signals at different temperatures and pressures in different solvent gases. The medium effect on relaxation can be qualitatively interpreted in terms of kinetic-theory cross sections or by the model in which a molecule behaves as a classical sphere in a viscous medium.
