Abstract

AbstractThis paper describes the use of lead shielding and pulse height discrimination as aids in reducing the background counts due to radioactive samples. The samples under study in this work have radioactive levels up to 40 R/hr. at 17 centimeters combinedβ+γ.Data are presented to illustrate the tiffectiveness of shielding and pulse height discrimination individually and combined.
