Abstract

The current study deals with the studying of surface enhancing/quenching fluorescence of Sulforhodamine B (SRB) dissolved in greener ionic liquid [1-ethyl-3-methyl imidazolium acetate] (EMIM Ac) and methanol as reference by hybrid with regular spherical shape of gold nanoparticles (Au NPs). Absorption spectra and fluorescence spectra of SRB without and with Au NPs were exhibited. The fluorescence quenching of complex is explained by evaluating the scattering and absorbing efficiencies of the prepared spherical Au NPs of radius 23 nm. Theoretically, Mie theory was applied to characterize the prepared Au NPs. The molar concentration of Au NPs is (C = 2.99 × 10−10 mol/L). Interaction of ionic liquid (EMIM Ac) with metal nanoparticles (Au NPs) produced novel featured properties and quenching of fluorescence of (SRB) laser dye. Finally, the photo-degradation of pure laser dye samples has higher values compared to laser dye complex samples with Au-NPs in both media cases EMIM Ac and MeOH.
