Abstract
Fluorescence lifetimes up to 8.8 ms have been achieved in arsenic-doped silica glass waveguides implanted with 2.7 MeV Er 2+ with a dose of 4.75 × 10 15 ions/cm 2 after annealing at 800°C for 60 min. These waveguides have a propagation loss of <1 dB/cm at 1528 nm, which is similar to the as-grown structures.
