Abstract

Rare-earth doped silica fibers have been extensively developed as optical amplifiers. Especially, Er3+ doped silica fibers have been expected of those at 1.55 μm band[1] [2] and increasing effort has been made to improve the gain and gain-bandwidth of amplification. And the fluoro-zirocnate multi-mode fiber has been also investigated for optical amplification.[3] But, there is no report of Er doped fluoro-zirconate sinle-mode fiber for 1.55μm amplification. In this time, we fabricated Er3+ doped fluoro-zirconate fibers and evaluated these fluorescence spectrum and life-time and amplification properties comparing with Er3+ doped silica fiber.
