Abstract
The closed loop experimental facility for continuous MHD power generation has been constructed at Tokyo Institute of Technology. In order to achieve high peformances of MHD generator, studies on fluid-dynamical behavior of working gas in the closed-loop is important. In this facility, the amount of gas, pressure ratio (=inlet/exit of compressor) and discharge pressure inside the loop can be changed by charging gas into the loop, changing mass flow rate and heating argon. In the present paper, static pressure distributions along the streamwise, total pressure profiles regarding with channel height at the disk-shaped channel and wall static pressure fluctuations measured at various flow rates, pressure ratio, and argon temperature were examined. When the argon was heated, the upstream gas pressure of the disk-shaped channel (P1) was increased and the downstream gas pressure of the disk-shaped channel (P2) was decreased. The total pressure profile was deflected to the lower wall with increasing the pressure ratio. The large pressure fluctuations occurred at the disk-shaped channel, and this fluctuation was damped along the streamwise direction.
