Abstract

Nonmetallic inclusions in molten steel can result in poor quality of a continuous casting product. In addition to being used as the reservoir and distributor of molten steel in continuous casting, tundishes are used to remove inclusions in molten steel. The design of a tundish to improve the efficiency of inclusion removal requires a detailed knowledge of the flow behavior of the molten steel in the tundish.
