Abstract

Abstract Measurements of the electrical resistivity in YBCO-PrBCO superlattices are reported. The resistivity curves directly above T c were analysed using various theoretical models describing weak fluctuations in layered superconductors and considering both Aslamazov-Larkin (AL) and Maki-Thompson (MT) terms. A 3D-2D crossover and strong enhancement of fluctuation-enhanced conductivity, σ′, above the crossover temperature were revealed for all samples studied. From the analysis for a typical 7 × 7 superlattice ξ c (0) = 0.14 ± 0.01 nm and τ ϕ ⋍ 8 × 10 −13 s , are derived for the interlayer coherence length and phase-relaxation time, respectively. This implies k B T c ⋍ 7z.xl;h/τ ϕ , indicating the absence of significant pair-breaking in these high- T c superconductors.
