Abstract

Takahasi's derivation of the fluctuation-dissipation theorem is reexamined and is generalized to a microcanonical ensemble. Equality of the zero-frequency susceptibility to the thermodynamic adiabatic susceptibility requires an ergodic condition for the correlation function or equivalently the condition for the phase-space distribution function to attain a proper equilibrium distribution after a long time when a pulsive disturbance is applied.
