Abstract

In most of designing constructions, closely bundled reinforcement, concrete placing at the sub-aquatic phase are some of the challenging site conditions. Self compacting concrete has the potentiality to flow under its self-weight without exclusion of materials added. Self compacting concrete resulted in a reduction of strength due to porosity. High-performance self-compacting cement and concrete are urgently needed to satisfy the high-rise buildings, marine tunnel and cross-sea bridges. However, several restrictions on cementitious materials still have to be resolved. One of the best emerging technology, incorporating nano based materials like carbon nano tubes, nano silica and graphene oxide. The impact of including graphene oxide (GO) to solidify on its microstructure and mechanical properties were examined. Right now, fresh properties like flowability and hardened properties like compressive strength, split tensile strength were assessed on GO incorporated SCM. The result shows that the optimized content of GO was obtained to give the positive impact on self compacting concrete. At an early age, the compressive strength of GO incorporated SCC was low. However, it expanded with time and turned out to be increasing until 0.03% substitution level. The expansion of GO advances hydration, reduces pore volume, quickens crystallite development and makes the crystallites adjust, which gives the high performance self compacting concrete.
