Abstract

The effect of the temperature and strain rate on the flow stress behavior of cast CoCrMo alloy was evaluated by the hot compression test. Results show that the flow stress increases rapidly with increasing strain rate and decreasing temperature. The flow softening behavior is due to dynamic recrystallization during hot working. The strain to recrystallize increases as the strain rate increases from 10 −3 s to 1.0 s −1, and then decreases with increasing strain rate above 1.0 s −1.
