Abstract

The effect of elasticity on the kinematic and deformation characteristics of flow of a viscoelastic polymer system through a capillary was examined. It was shown that the difference in elasticity over the radius of the capillary that arises during flow through the capillary is the cause of radial inhomogeneity in the fibre obtained to a great degree. Flow of an exponential fluid was examined. It was shown that there is no exponential fluid as such in nature, but it is the result of approximate solution of the equation of state for a viscoelastic polymer system. The value of this approximation was determined.
