Abstract

A theoretical analysis is made of the flow of an incompressible Bingham fluid in a slightly curved circular pipe. For the purpose of the analysis the curvature of the pipe has been taken such that the radius of the circle in which the central line of the pipe is coiled is large in comparison with the radius of cross-section. A solution is developed by successive approximations from the perturbation of flow of a Bingham fluid in a straight pipe. The streamlines in the plane of symmetry are illustrated, as well as the projections of the stream surfaces on a normal section, for assumed thickness of plug of material in the centre of the pipe.
