Abstract

A range of flat steel plates were mounted as cantilevers in a rectangular passage of variable width. The vibration characteristics were investigated with direct excitation and with excitation due to an air flow through the passage. The largest vibration amplitudes were found to occur at the acoustic resonant frequencies of the system when these were a little above the resonant frequencies of the plates.
