Abstract
This work focuses on an experimental investigation of flow control of the wake of a 3D bluff body using micro-electro mechanical system (MEMS) pulsed micro-jets. Results show that a significant drag reduction (up to 10 %) is obtained with micro-jets located upstream the recirculation bubble created over the rear slant of the model. The energy balance obtained with MEMS is also much better than the one obtained with conventional magnetic valves, which makes MEMS technology highly attractive for future industrial applications on flow control.
