Abstract

A new type of umbrella plate scrubber was invented to purify the harmful pollutants. The two-phase flow of the new device was studied through simulation approach between dust gas and water droplets. The continuous gas phase was modeled in an Eulerian framework, while the dispersed liquid phase, tracked with a Lagrangian approach. With inlet velocity 14.42 m/s, liquid-gas ratio 0.2 L/m3 and the Discrete Phase Model(DPM), the hydrodynamics peculiarity of this device was displayed with the velocity profile, pressure field and droplets trajectories. The results show that gas velocity in the export section is uniform, and the total pressure drop of the scrubber is about 1000 Pa with spray. In addition, the dewatering performance of the scrubber is relatively well. DPM model is successful in predicting the two phase flow in the spray tower.
