Abstract

The scale of dry pulverized coal gasifier is restricted by the conveying capacity of single pipeline. In this paper, the flow characteristics of pulverized coal at different pipe diameters and operation parameters under high pressure are simulated to indicate flow stability and ultimate pipe diameter. Firstly, the numerical model is established and verified by the industrial data. The influences of conveying velocities and densities on the particle behavior are investigated to explore the flow regime and conveying stability. The flow characteristics and pattern transition regulation are discussed at different pipe diameters. The evolution mechanism of pressure drops in different straight pipes are analyzed. Also, the ultimate pipe diameter of gasifier is revealed at industrial operating parameters.
