Abstract
ABSTRACTThe effect of polyacrylamide (PAM) as flocculant, NaCl electrolyte concentration and pH on the degree of flocculation of bentonite suspension has been investigated. It has been observed that the increase in PAM dosage reduces the residual turbidity and improves the settling rate of the bentonite particles. At higher pH conditions bentonite dispersions are highly flocculated having high settling rates and low supernatant turbidity. The combined effect of salt concentration and PAM dosage improved the overall flocculation efficiency of the system.
