Abstract

Eringen's theory of a homogeneous hyperelastic dielectric is applied to the problem of homogeneous deformation combined with the simple flexure of a rectangular dielectric reinforced by inextensible cords. Electrostatic field and stress tensors are determined. New effects have been observed which are not present in an unpolarized reinforced elastic cuboid. In the absence of charge, the results reduce to those of the elasticity solution.
