Abstract
An approximate approach is considered for determining the logarithmic decrement of Flexural vibrations of an elastic console with a load at the end. The method proposed in Postnikov V. S.’s monograph on internal friction in metal is used. In this problem statement, the friction is assumed to be small. Therefore, the forms of natural vibrations of the console with friction are considered equal to the forms of natural vibrations of the console without friction. An approximate solution of this problem is obtained using a frequency experiment.
