Abstract
Abstract Conservative estimates of the flexural-torsional buckling load for monosymmetric columns are often obtained by using the solution for a simple column with the length replaced by appropriate effective lengths for flexure and twist. This paper shows that this procedure is conservative for isolated straight columns.
