Abstract

The paper presents the ongoing experimental work on flexural behaviour of steel fibre reinforced concrete containing cement additions such as fly ash, limestone powder, silica fume and metakaolin, added in binary and ternary blends. The mechanical properties, namely, compressive strength, flexural strength and flexural toughness were evaluated for all mix combinations. The flexural toughness parameters were determined for comparative evaluation of different concrete mixes by different methods viz. ASTM C1018, Japanese Concrete Institute (JCI) method, ASTM C 1609/C 1609M, post crack strength method. The results have witnessed the enhanced toughness performance of metakaolin based concretes as compared to silica fume based concretes. Additionally, preliminary results examining the probability distributions of fatigue life of limestone powder based mixes have also been presented at the end.
