Abstract

In this study, the flexural performance of a new lightweight composite floor constructed of cold-formed steel trusses and a composite mortar slab was tested. The average floor bearing capacity was approximately 15 kN/m2 at the mid-span deflection serviceability limit, and 22.5 kN/m2 at ultimate load. We obtained the ratio between the shear force applied to both the cement mortar and upper chord of the steel trusses, and the total shear force applied to the composite floor using a finite element model. We then proposed a theoretical method for determining the composite floor's deflection and bearing capacity, which agreed with the previous results.
