Abstract

Tenolysis can restore finger flexion by freeing tendons from surrounding scar tissue. The flexor retinaculum system (pulleys) is crucial to flexor function and must be preserved during both the surgical approach and the actual tenolysis. Tendon adhesions are excised to allow the scarred tendons to again glide. Proper postoperative care is essential to maintain the tendon gliding after tenolysis. Postoperative nerve blocks decrease pain, allowing the patient to begin moving immediately.
