Abstract

The paper describes a process control architecture, which is suitable to use as a framework by implementing flexible control applications. Based on the modular software concept of function blocks, first of all a forward driven information exchange between several control units is introduced. Using this new communication principle, the so called ‘hierarchical task concept’ is presented. This process control model guarantees, that the process-oriented recipe control of batch processes and the rigid structure of a plant-oriented aggregation of control units fit together.
