Abstract

In this paper, a flexible optical sensor based on bisphenol-A acrylate polymer fiber (BAA-POF) is fabricated and demonstrated. The BAA-POF is composed of bisphenol-A acrylate monomers and additives in a certain proportion. When the pressure is applied to the BAA-POF, or the BAA-POF is bent by an angle, the sensor can perceive variations of the output spectrum loss caused by the sensor sensing accordingly. Experimental results show that the sensor has good linear responses to pressure and bending perception with negligible temperature and humidity cross-impact. The pressure sensitivity is 1.24 dB/N and the bending sensitivity is 0.08 dB/°. Moreover, the sensor is also proved for application in activity perception of the elbow joint.
