Abstract

Viewing the larynx has been revolutionized by the advent of flexible fiberoptic scopes. A subject may inspire, expire, cough, swallow, phonate sounds, words, sentences, or passages, and even sing as examination provides. The stunningly clear images may be adapted for production of color transparencies, prints, and color and sound videotapes. Using techniques he has devised, the author presents color transparencies, and color and sound videotapes demonstrating normal and abnormal laryngeal physiology, with normal and abnormal voices. Highlighting the presentation are the larynges of young professional opera singers, performing arias in full voice with full orchestral accompaniment.
