Abstract

In Brief Complete or partial loss of toes may be congenitally acquired or encountered following trauma. It is important to treat patients with partial foot amputations with the objective of not only satisfying their aesthetic needs but also restoring their self-confidence and helping them to cope with the difficulties of amputation. Two patients with toe amputations were treated with individually customized total silicone partial foot prostheses aiming toward comfort and aesthetics. This clinical report highlights the role of a prosthodontist in treating patients with partial foot amputations caused by trauma. It is important to treat patients with partial foot amputations with the objective of not only satisfying their aesthetic needs, but also restoring their self-confidence and helping them to cope with the difficulties of amputation.
