Abstract

We successfully demonstrate error-free broadband wavelength conversion using cross-gain modulation in a quantum-dot semiconductor optical amplifier (QD-SOA). Because of the wide gain bandwidth of the QD-SOA, a wide gain range is available for the wavelengths of the original and converted signals. As a result, the operating wavelength of the converted signal is flexibly tuned in a 150-nm wavelength range covering the S/C/L-bands.
