Abstract

Distributed energy resources (DERs) can offer many valuable services to the power system; however, increasing penetration of these resources may challenge the distribution grid due to insufficient capacity in peak hours. The services offered by DERs provides flexibility that needs to be used for the better operation of distribution grids. Identification of useful flexibility services has gained a lot of attention and different innovative concepts are being introduced. This study discusses one of the recently introduced flexibility service concept of FLECH and also reviews some of its uncovered aspects. Furthermore, this study addresses one of the aspects i.e. baseline formulation at the distribution level and provides the solution for it. It also provides a case study of the flexibility service i.e. PowerMax service. In the end, some illustrations from the case study are presented to understand the concept of FLECH.
