Abstract

Uncaria sinensis (Oliv.) Havil. has been widely used in China for many years. It has been used solely or along with some other herb medical plants by extracting them with water. The alkaloids, triterpenes, and flavonoids are the main constituents, especially alkaloids. Previous studies had focused on the isolation of alkaloids and their pharmacological activities. In this research, three flavonoids had been isolated from the plant U. sinensis for the first time and their structures had been identified. Furthermore, the three flavonoids’ inhibition activity on α-glycosidase had been studied by the comparison with the positive control drug, Acarbose. Key words: Uncaria sinensis (oliv.) Havil., flavonoids, α-glycosidase, activity.
