Abstract

Azo, nitro, and other reductases occur in midgut, fat body, gastric caecae and Malphighian tubules of the Madagascar cockroach. In midgut they are found in soluble fractions and those corresponding to mitochondria and microsomes. The azoreduction is non enzymatic. It results from the action of reduced flavin which is enzymatically produced by pyridine nucleotide dependent enzymes.
