Abstract
A protocol of flavin-catalyzed, TBHP-promoted aerobic oxidation of (het)aryl alkane to ketones has been developed and the products were provided in moderate-to-excellent yields with broad functional group tolerance. Flavin was first employed as a catalyst to oxidize (het)aryl alkane to ketones. The methodology were applied to the synthesis of many biologically active, pharmaceutical molecules and natural products. Mechanistic investigation reveals that a radical pathway may be involved in the transformation.
