Abstract

Summary The contribution considers the tracking control problem for nonlinear parabolic distributed-parameter systems with boundary input. It is shown that the combination of so-called formal power series and suitable summation methods provides an integrated approach to the flatness-based feedforward and feedback tracking control design with observer. The performance of the proposed control scheme is evaluated by considering various diffusion-convection-reaction models for tubular or fixed-bed reactors.
