Abstract

A water vapour sensor based on absorption by phosphorus pentoxide and simultaneous electrolysis has been developed. The active element consists of a small alumina substrate with a pair of rhodium electrodes. The phosphoric acid coated element is mounted on a common type vacuum flange. The sensor can be used for the measurement of the absolute water vapour pressure (10-3-102 Pa) in atmospheric and vacuum systems.
