Abstract

A coral-like bimodal macro-/mesoporous ZnO was prepared rapidly by self-sustained decomposition of a metal complex. The achieved ZnO powders demonstrated excellent gas-sensing properties for detecting ethanol and acetone because the abundant macropores provided open entrances and channels; whilst the mesopores guaranteed a large contact area for target gases.
