Abstract
Flash memory becomes ideal storage media for high performance computing mobile computers, embedded systems and real time applications because of its attractive features like fast access speed, shock resistance, high reliability and further more it's rapidly increasing capacity. Currently the high capacity MLC flash SSDs are becoming center of attraction for large size multitasking multimedia systems like operating systems to support their increasing storage demands. The properties of MLC flash are low cost, high capacity and increasing throughput. There are many flash products offered by different well known manufacturers. However, there is no work provided before to know their significance for system softwares based on experimental results. In this paper, the performance is evaluated of three NAND flash memory products based data management for Windows Vista operating system and the experimental results based on two modern real-time benchmarks are provided and discussed to give the better idea to users to choose the right mobile applications suitable storage devices.
