Abstract

[George Dutton is an Assistant Professor of Asian Languages and Cultures at the University of California, Los Angeles. He specializes in eighteenth-century Vietnamese history and has conducted research on a range of topics related to the Tay Son period. His publications include “From Civil War to Uncivil Peace: Army and Society in the Early Nguyen State,” in Armies and Society in Southeast Asia, c. 1750-2000, eds.
