Abstract We use the contraction mapping theorem to obtain stability results of the scalar nonlinear neutral differential equation with functional delay 𝑥′(𝑡) = –𝑎𝑥(𝑡) + 𝑏(𝑡)𝑥2(𝑡 – 𝑟(𝑡)) + 𝑐(𝑡)𝑥(𝑡 – 𝑟(𝑡))𝑥′(𝑡 – 𝑟(𝑡)).
