Abstract

Objectivein elderly patients reduction and fixation of acetabular fractures showed poor outcomes in fracture patterns where cartilage comminution/impaction and/or femoral head dislocation are present; acute arthroplasty with standard uncemented hemispherical cups and posterior plating has been recently proposed, we report on its safety and effectiveness. Methodswe used this technique to manage 67 displaced acetabular fracture but both column in patients older than 65 years old. Resultsfractures of posterior column and/or wall with severe cartilage involvement may be treated safely with acute THA. ConclusionsGood results in complex fracture patterns may also be achieved.
