Abstract

BACKGROUND The University of Washington Pediatrics Residency Program at Seattle Children’s Hospital (SCH) offers the Resident Education in Advocacy and Child Health (REACH) pathway. In an innovative design, residents interested in community and global health are trained in foundational concepts together before travelling to community sites in Toppenish, WA, or Kisii, Kenya for capstone projects. Longitudinal academic-community partnerships have been established in both sites; in Toppenish, this is a federally qualified health center.
