Abstract
Abstract The five coordinate rhodium(I) carbonyl complexes, [Rh(CO)(N-N)L2]x, where N-N = 2,9-dimethyl-1, 10- phenanthroline (Me2Phen), 4, 7-diphenyl-1, 10-phenanthroline (Ph2Phen), 2,9-dimethyl-4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline (Me2Ph2Phen), 2,2-biquinoline (biq); L = triphenyl phosphine, - arsine and -stibine; X = ClO4 − and BF4 −, have been prepared by the interactions between (i) slight excess of N-N ligands and [Rh(CO)2L3]+ in acetonealcohol mixture; (ii) stoichiometric amounts of L and [Rh(CO)2(N-N)]+ in acetone. These compounds have been characterized by elemental analyses, conductivity measurements, and i.r. spectral studies. The u.v. vis. spectral data of the compounds have also been discussed.
