Abstract

Five cases of hypophosphatasia, two of them brothers, are reported. Among other characteristics of hypophosphatasia are increased tooth mobility and early loss of primary teeth. This phenomenon has not been observed in the permanent dentition, whereas abnormally large pulp chambers, so-called “shell-teeth”, are seen in both the primary and the permanent dentition. The absence of serious symptoms of gingivitis is a typical sign of hypophosphatasia.
