Abstract

The paper describes a Bayes least squares linear method for fitting conditional distributions to data. The method might be used by an investigator who wishes to proceed as if the data arose by random sampling from distributions having densities adequately represented by orthogonal series expansions. In an illustrative example a conditional distribution of lung function given age and height are fitted to data.
