Abstract
AbstractTwo new species, Fissidens cucullatus and F. inaequiretis, are described and illustrated. F. cucullatus is characterized by very obtuse leaves often cucullate at the apex, with highly mamillose, smooth, unipapillose orbipapillose cells and marginal cells of the vaginant laminae often longer than wide. A comparison is made with F. perobtusus Dix.. F. inaequiretis has lax linear leaves with a serrate margin, large thin-walled cells except for marginal band, and an. intramarginal border in lower part of vaginant lamina. It appears to be closest to F. lagunensis (Bartr.) Bartr.. F. subkurandae Bartr. is reduced to a synonym of F. holstii Broth.
