Abstract

Acute promyelocytic leukaemia (APL) is characterised by the reciprocal translocation t(15;17) in over 90% of cases.1 Cases of cryptic APL without t(15;17) on conventional karyotyping are usually due to insertion events, resulting in a PML-RARA fusion protein detectable by RT-PCR.1,2 Cases also negative by FISH are exceedingly rare.2
