Abstract

Reaction of CoCl2·6H2O and P(CH2OH)3 with H2S in ethanol produces a new water-soluble hexanuclear cluster [Co6S8(P(CH2OH)3)6]·5H2O (1). Reaction of 1 with acetic anhydride gives [Co6S8(P(CH2O(O)CCH3)3)6]·H2O (2). Complex 2 was characterized by 31P, 13C and 1H NMR, X-ray structure analysis, UV–vis. Reaction of 1 with propionic anhydride gives [Co6S8(P(CH2O(O)CCH2CH3)3)6] (3) which was characterized by 31P, 13C and 1H NMR, and UV–vis spectra.
