Abstract

A review of the RTPR first-wall environment is given, with emphasis on the physical processes which determine the first wall insult. Recent results of calculations of the transient phenomena which occur when a neutral gas blanket is set up for first wall protection are given. New first-wall designs are described, and their responses to the first wall fluxes are discussed.
