Abstract

Waist-hip ratio (WHR) >0.85 is a marker of increased visceral adiposity (VA) & associates with metabolic dysregulation independent of BMI in non-pregnant populations. Whether WHR underlies adverse metabolic outcomes in pregnancy (AMOP) including hypertensive diseases of pregnancy (HDP) and gestational diabetes (GDM), independent of BMI, is unclear. We investigated the relationship between 1st tri WHR and AMOP development in a large, multicenter cohort study.
